CPI to contest 18 seats

By Correspondent

MORIGAON, March 11 - The CPI will contest 18 seats in the forthcoming Assembly elections, said Munin Mahanta, veteran CPI leader, at a press conference here today. Mahanta added that six left democratic parties would contest in 59 constituencies of the State on the basis of consensus.

The CPI leader said that his party would seek the formation of a third force barring the Congress and the BJP.

Mahanta said that the AGP- BJP alliance in the State is unfortunate as the saffron party has befriended the regional party for narrow gains. He predicted a hung Assembly as no party would get the absolute majority in the ensuing polls.
