CPI (ML) stages dharna against Central govt

DIBRUGARH, April 19 - In keeping with the 127th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb, the principal architect of the Constitution of India and a founding father of the Republic of India, members of the district unit of the Communist Party of India (M-L) Liberation observed the �Save Constitution-Save Democracy Day� by staging dharna at Chowkidinghee recently.

The party workers raised slogans against the ruling BJP government at the Centre. They condemned the government for failing to protect lives and properties of the people, particularly women and children.

They called upon the public to oust the BJP-Sangh brigade for making attempts to modify the country�s Constitution. They also demanded that the earlier SC/ST Act be retained in its original form.

The party workers also held a meeting at the venue of protest. CPI (ML) Liberation-affiliated Assam Sangrami Chah Shramik Sangha central leader Ghanashyam Munda presided over the meeting. The meeting was addressed by party leaders Mira Tanti and Subhrajyoti Vardhan.

The speakers said after the BJP came to power in 2014 by promising acche din, the people of this country have been attacked from all fronts. While communal tension is brewing, attacks on Dalits, women, tribals, Adivasis and Muslims are also continuing. Problems like unemployment, corruption, corporate loot and prices of commodities are rising alarmingly throughout the country, the party stated.

The worst is that the BJP MLAs and their loyalists are allegedly involved in crimes against women and children, a CPI (ML) release alleged.
