CPI (M) urges EC to probe BJP �poll meeting� attended by NSA

AGARTALA, Jan 16 - Expressing serious concern over the�presence of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval in a BJP�s poll strategic meeting in the residence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi�on Sunday, the ruling CPI(M) today has demanded a probe into the �development�.

In a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the CPI (M) has sought a thorough investigation into the reports of NSA�s presence in a �strategic� meeting of BJP.

Doval was present at a meeting at the residence of Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi�on Sunday, the media reported adding strategic issues in regard to the ensuing Assembly elections in three north-eastern states, including Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland were discussed.

CPI (M) state secretary Bijan Dhar� said that there were �indications of serious conspiracy�.

�This is a grave and serious situation if it appears correct. We have written to the EC and requested for conducting a probe. If found true, those involved with the issue must be punished as per the law�, he said.

Dhar continued, �If the National Security Advisor is involved in a strategic political meeting like this, many things could happen. And, we are really worried over the incident�.

A new government is scheduled to be constituted in Tripura by�March 14.
