COVID recovery rate in State crosses 60 pc mark

GUWAHATI, June 19 - As many as 3,066 COVID-19 patients have been discharged till date from various hospitals in the State.

With today�s tally of discharged patients, which has been put at 218, the rate of recovery in the State has crossed the 60 per cent mark.

Amid surge in the number of patients being discharged, the total count of those infected till date stands at 5,006. So far, nine of them have lost their lives. The number of active patients is 1,928.

Meanwhile, another 12,000 tests for COVID-19 was completed in the State taking the total number of tests to 2,46,590.

The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has so far conducted 42,406 tests, the highest by any lab in the State, closely followed by the Fakruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta which has till date tested 37,934 samples. The Jorhat Medical College and Hospital has till date tested 30,110 samples.

Meanwhile, a special train has been scheduled for people of other States stranded in Assam. The train will start from Dibrugarh on June 20 at 10 pm and will have halts for boarding at Tinsukia, Simaluguri, Mariani, Furkating, Lumding, Chaparmukh, Guwahati, Rangiya, Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar. The train will go to Jaipur via Malda Town, Jasidih, Patna, Prayagraj, Kanpur Central and Tundla.

Workers/labourers/shramiks from the States of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, who have already registered, will be allowed to board this train.

In case of those who have not yet registered themselves, they should do so with the nearest Police Station/Circle Office/Sub Divisional (Civil) Office/Sub Divisional Police Office/Deputy Commissioner Office/Superintendent of Police office by 2 pm on June 20.

The train will be 3-tier, non-AC sleeper and is expected to reach Jaipur on June 23 at 10 pm.
