Covid claims 6 more lives in Tinsukia district, death toll 22

DOOMDOOMA, Aug 4 - With the death of six more COVID-19 positive patients since yesterday, the total number of Covid death cases in Tinsukia district rose to 22. According to the district administration sources, three patients died on Monday while three others breathed their last on Tuesday.

The three patients who died on Monday were � Pinky Upadhayay (26), Surendra Kumar Tanti (53) and Rajen Swami (52). The three other positive patients who died on Tuesday are � Aarti Limbu (60), Pranab Saikia (43) and Renu Sarmah (67). All these patients died at AMCH, Dibrugarh.

The number of COVID-19 infected persons in Tinsukia district rose to 2131 as 363 fresh cases have been detected in various parts of the district during the last 48 hours.

It has become a matter of serious concern for the people of the district as the pandemic is gradually spreading to the rural and tea garden areas of district.

Majority of the fresh cases were detected in the community level and in Tinsukia town, Makum, Digboi, Margherita, Pengeree, Bordumsa, Doomdooma town, Raidang Tea Estate, Beesakopie Tea Estate, Rupai Siding, Borhapjan etc.

In Doomdooma town, 20 cases were detected while 22 cases were detected in Raidang Tea Estate. On the other hand , 4 cases were detected in Beesakopie Tea Estate , 2 in Rupbon and 7 in Rupai Siding area here.

Though the positive cases have been rising alarmingly in the district, a section of people are yet to realise the gravity of the situation and are found violating the protocol laid down by the Health department to contain the spread of this dreaded virus.
