Covid cases in Manipur reach 490

IMPHAL, June 15 - With 32 new positive cases, the total number of persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur has increased to 490, while the number of active cases is 339, official sources said.

In all, 20 were tested and found positive at the VRDL(Virus Research and Diagnosis Laboratory) of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS-4) while 12 at VRDL of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS-5), according to the status update report on COVID-19 issued by the state surveillance officer of the Integrated Surveillance Programme.

As per the report, so far 151 cases have recovered after treatment and discharged from RIMS (84) and JNIMS (67) respectively. Around 60 such cases were discharged from hospitals, including 22 from RIMS and 38 from JNIMS.

As per the latest report available here of June 15, 26,458 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the state, while 2,69,499 were screened at various entry points of the State.

It may be mentioned that the Manipur government had decided to make wearing face masks compulsory in public places, including offices, to prevent spread of COVID-19.The State Government also issued instructions to government offices for immediate compliance of the order.

Lockdown violators detained: As part of the ongoing drive to prevent spread of COVID-19, Manipur Police detained 793 persons along with 517 vehicles for violating the ongoing lockdown/curfew, said Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) L Kailun in a press release today.

Altogether, a sum of Rs 69,750 was realised as fine. Police appealed to the public to follow the guidelines issued by the Government.
