COVID-19 toll reaches 50 in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Nov 28 - Arunachal Pradesh on Friday reported the death of one more COVID-19 patient, which took the State�s virus toll to 50.

�A 38-year-old female from F-Sector, Itanagar, expired at 7.45 am on Friday at the Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH), Chimpu here. She was a known case of hypothyroidism with COVID-19 infection and died due to acute respiratory distress syndrome,� State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The patient was referred from the RKMH, Itanagar, and admitted to the DCH, Chimpu, on November 14, Dr Jampa added.

Meanwhile, the State on Friday recorded 27 fresh COVID-19 cases that took the tally of confirmed cases to 16,231. The infected include two health care workers and one military personnel. The maximum of 10 cases were reported from the Itanagar Capital Complex, followed by Changlang (six), West Kameng (four) and Tawang (three). Anjaw, Tirap, Papumpare and Leparada reported one case each.

Nineteen of the total cases have been found to be asymptomatic and eight symptomatic, a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here stated.

Meanwhile, 41 COVID-19 patients were discharged following recovery from the disease. With this, the total number of cured cases in the State has reached 15,270. The recovery rate currently stands at 94.07 per cent.

As of now, Arunachal Pradesh has 911 active cases. The Itanagar Capital Complex continues to be the worst affected with 5,751 cases, including 618 active and 5,108 discharged cases and 25 fatalities.

The State has so far tested 3,56,661 samples, including 1,050 on Friday, for COVID-19, the bulletin added.
