COVID-19 No Tolerance Fortnight in Mizoram

By Correspondent

AIZAWL, Oct 22 - With the recent spike in locally transmitted cases of the novel coronavirus in Mizoram, the State Government has decided to observe a COVID-19 No Tolerance Fortnight from October 26.

The decision in this regard was taken on Wednesday in a meeting chaired by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr R Lalthangliana to assess the COVID-19 situation in the State.

Dr R Lalthangliana said that the Mizoram Government has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards flouting of any COVID-19 containment measures being implemented and enforced in the State.

He added that all unlock guidelines, SOPs and sections of the Mizoram Containment and Prevention of COVID-19 Ordinance, 2020, would be enforced very strictly.

The meeting expressed concern over the opening of some classes (Class X and Class XII) in schools and also the increased vehicular traffic in Aizawl city and suggested that these need to be reviewed in a more detailed manner.

Mizoram today reported 31 new cases of COVID-19, all of which were locally transmitted. Of the 31 new cases, 28 were reported from Aizawl district, two from Lunglei and one from Serchhip district.

Mizoram now has a tally of 2,341 cases, of which 167 are active. As many as 2,174 patients have recovered from the disease so far.
