COVID-19 cases cross 1000-mark in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, July 25 - The number of COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh has increased to 1,056 with 65 more persons, including 33 ITBP jawans, testing positive on Friday.

On the other hand, 58 COVID-19 patients, including 45 in Itanagar Capital Complex and 10 in Changlang, were discharged after they tested negative, taking the number of discharged persons in the State to 392.

The State now has 661 active cases and three fatalities.

Of the 65 new cases detected in seven districts, 30 cases (all ITBP personnel in quarantine facility) are from Papum Pare and 23 from Itanagar Capital Complex.

Five cases were detected in Tirap, three in Lohit, two in Lower Dibang Valley and one each in West Kameng and Namsai, stated a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services late last evening.

While two of the five cases in Tirap district are policemen, all three cases in Lohit are BRTF personnel, who came from UP and were in quarantine facility (QF). The lone case in West Kameng is a military man, a returnee from Andhra Pradesh, who tested positive when he was in QF.

As per the bulletin, 59 cases were asymptomatic and six symptomatic. So far, 53,335 samples have been collected in the State, of which 49,820 have tested negative and results of 935 samples are awaited. On Friday, 4,455 samples were collected for testing.
