DOOMDOOMA, Aug 17 - One Dilip Kishan (55) and his wife, Shibratri Kishan (50), of Line No. 10 of the Hansara Division of the Raidang Tea Estate under the Doomdooma Police Station were beaten to death by the workers of the garden for allegedly �practising witchcraft� around 11 pm on August 15 last.
According to police sources, the workers of Line No. 10 of the garden dragged the couple out of their house and started beating them with bamboo sticks mercilessly. The workers alleged that the couple were �practising witchcraft� and �spreading diseases� among the workers.
The police have already arrested 31 workers allegedly involved in the twin killings. Among the arrested workers, 14 are male and 17 are female. All the arrested workers were sent to judicial custody today. Tension prevailed in the garden after the incident.
