GUWAHATI, June 13 - A middle-aged couple � Jiten Chaudhury and his wife Navanita Goswami Choudhury � died and their 15-year-old daughter, a Class X student of Sarla Birla Gyan Jyoti, suffered serious injuries when the car they were travelling in from Guwahati was hit head-on by a sand-laden truck at Kukurmara yesterday afternoon. The child is said to be stable now.
Residents of Geetanagar here, the family, along with a girl who lived with theme, were on their way to Jiten�s ancestral home at Singra near Chaygaon when the mishap occurred.
While Navanita was declared brought dead at a hospital near the accident site, Jiten succumbed to his injuries at Paltan Bazar on his way to the GMCH.
The accident has cast a pall of gloom at both Singra and Guwahati.
The couple was cremated at Singra this afternoon.
