AIZAWL, Nov 29 - One Lalramdinngheta and his wife, Laldinzuali � residents of Lawngtlai town in south Mizoram � died as the motorcycle they were riding on, skidded off the road and fell into a gorge around 8 pm on Thursday. Local sources said that the couple was on its way home from a river where they had gone fishing.
�Due to the defective headlights on the motorcycle, Lalramdinngheta could not clearly see the road and accidentally ran off the road and fell into the gorge, about 90 metres below. They died on the spot,� a source said.
Another man, who was also riding on the same bike, survived with minor injuries. He managed to crawl on to the road and got help from a nearby BRTF camp. Workers in the camp took him to Lawngtlai on a scooter and admitted him to hospital. They also informed the locals about the mishap.
The local people recovered the bodies of the couple from the gorge in the wee hours today.
The couple leaves behind three small children.
