GUWAHATI, May 28 - The Hatigaon police today arrested a couple for allegedly murdering one Ranu Rai.
The incident took place at Chandan Nagar locality. Rai, a mason by profession, had entered the house of the couple on Monday evening and tried to molest the woman, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Nandini Kakoti.
�At that time, the husband was not at home and Rai, who was in an inebriated state, tried to molest the woman. But she attacked him and called her husband. The husband after reaching home tied Rai with a chair and beat him up brutally,� Kakoti said.
The police later taken Ranu Rai, 52, to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) but the doctor declared him as brought dead. Police have booked the couple under Section 302 and 143 of IPC.
