GUWAHATI, Nov 26 - A CID team assisted by Basistha police today seized banned cough syrup worth around Rs 30 lakh in Beharbari area of the city and detained four people in this connection.
The detained persons were Jayanta Kumar Rajbongshi (42), Anath Bondhu Bhattacharjee (34), Debajyoti Das (29) and Raju Kangkha Banik (32).
Acting on a tip-off, the CID team intercepted a mini truck loaded with 20 cartons of prohibited cough syrup (brand name Eskuf) containing 160 bottles per carton at Beharbari under Basistha PS around 12:45 pm.
In the same operation, on being led by the detained persons, the said CID team recovered and seized another 40 cartons containing the same prohibited cough syrup from a house located at Kali Mandir Path, Beharbari. A case was registered in this connection.
