Cotton University wins oil quiz

GUWAHATI, Oct 1 - Cotton University, represented by Plawan Sarma and Raktim Ranjan Baishya won the 21st OIL-Inter Institution Quiz Competition organised by Narangi Club at Pipeline Headquarters, Narangi on Monday evening and pocketed a cheque of Rs 25,000, said a press release issued today.

The quiz was conducted by Dr Vinay Upadhyay from Nazareth Hospital, Shillong and witnessed a record participation of 73 teams from Dibrugarh, Moran, Barpeta, Tezpur, Mirza and Guwahati.

Tezpur University represented by Ritukalpa Saikia and Munindra Nath Hazarika won the second prize with a cash award of Rs 20,000. The third position was won by Rupankar Nandi and Bishwayan Bhattacharjee of Guwahati Medical College who were awarded Rs 15,000.

The fourth, fifth and sixth position winners were awarded Rs 10,000 each per team. Dhritiraj Mishra and Deepjyoti Patowary of Assam Engineering College secured the fourth position. The team of Namrata Doley and Khushi Debabrat of Handique Girls College secured the fifth position while Rituraj Bordoloi and Abhilash Das of Tezpur University secured the sixth position.

Earlier, the competition was inaugurated by Samir Kumar Das, Executive Director Pipeline Services. The vote of thanks was offered by Dwipendra Das, honorary general secretary, while Jayanta Barua compered the programme.
