GUWAHATI, Jan 15 � Nearly hundred teachers of Cotton College have expressed their whole-hearted support in the continued existence of the Constituent College as defined in Cotton College State University, 2011 (published in Assam Gazette notification No.293 dated September 2011).
In a memorandum to the convener of the review committee, the Cotton College State University Act, 2011 (Working Group), the teachers drew the attention towards different representations made by individuals and organisations espousing the Ravenshaw and Presidency models and also the substitution of the existing constituent college by a school of undergraduate studies.
�Through this representation, we would like to express our view not to support the imposition of such a model or a school of undergraduate studies. Rather, we would like to support the existing Constituent College as defined in the Cotton College State University Act, 2011, published in the Assam Gazette vide notification number 293 dated September 5, 2011,� the memorandum stated.
The copy of the memorandum has also been marked to the Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor of the University, besides the Chief Secretary and the Education department.
