GUWAHATI, Jan 9 - The Cotton College fraternity has expressed deep shock at the untimely death of Benjir Sultana Khanom, Assistant Professor of the college and remembered her as a sincere teacher. Benjir was murdered by her husband in Nagaon on Friday.
Principal of the College Dr Niroda Devi said, �She was very new in the college. It was in October last year that she joined. From whatever I came to know, she was very committed to her job.�
She added that Benjir was also very amiable by nature. A condolence meeting will be held on Monday in the college premises.
Dr Arup Hazarika, general secretary of the Cotton College Teachers� Association (CCTA), while condoling the death of Benjir, said that it was a shocking case of domestic violence leading to murder. He added that the law should take its own course.
�I met her once and she appeared to be a dedicated person,� Dr Hazarika said.
