Convocation of Don Bosco varsity held

GUWAHATI, Sept 21 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today made an appeal to the academic institutions to

nurse and groom the youth with the right kind of education to make them scientific, logical, open-minded, self-confident, responsible, hard working, honest, morally strong and committed to serve the society.

In his speech at the second convocation of the Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), which was read out by Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Father Joseph Nellanat in his

absentia, the Chief Minister said the educational institutions have to mould our youth to make them

good human beings and to work for the betterment of the nation.

The Chief Minister also made an appeal to those who have graduated from the University never to forget their roots, the place of their origin.

The Chief Minister could not make it to the function due to some unavoidable circumstances.

The chief guest of the convocation, Prof Amar Nath Rai, Director of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) expressed his happiness over the fact that the University vision statement has recognised the need for developing wholesomeness and the cultural refinement of the students.

The function was also addressed by ADBU Chancellor Fr VM Thomas.

Degrees were conferred on 298 students and medals were also given in various categories to 11 outstanding graduates.

Subra Mukherjee, an M Tech student from Nagaland topped all disciplines to receive the ADBU Chancellor�s gold medal.
