Contributions to fight COVID-19 pour in

GUWAHATI, April 10 - The Assam Petrochemicals Limited has contributed Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister�s Relief Fund to help in the State government�s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The cheque was handed over to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal by Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Chairman of Assam Petrochemicals Limited Bikul Deka and others here on Friday.

The NRL Officers� Association (NRLOA) has donated Rs 45 lakh to Assam Arogya Nidhi to help the State government combat the global pandemic. The officers contributed two days� salary, which was supplemented further from the NRLOA corpus.

The contribution was handed over to Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in the Guwahati premises of the National Health Mission (NHM) on Thursday.

The hospital administrators of PMJAY under Atal Amrit Abhiyan Society in the State also have donated one day�s salary to the Assam Arogya Nidhi to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The administrators handed over the cheque to Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday.

Meanwhile, doing its bit to strengthen Assam�s fight against COVID-19, the Bhabendra Nath Saikia Shishu Kalyan Nyas (Arohan) has donated Rs 50,000 to the Assam Arogya Nidhi. Indrajeet Das, trustee of Arohan handed over a cheque against the said amount to Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna on Thursday.

Xonkolpo Cottonian 1985-90, a group of students of Cotton College who studied in the premier institution during 1985-90, donated Rs 1.5 lakh to the Assam Arogya Nidhi today through bank transfer.

It hailed the massive steps taken by the State health and family welfare department to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic under the leadership of Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also a member of the group.
