KALIABOR, March 7 - The Nagaon district administration will submit a proposal to the NHIDCL (National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd) for the construction of service roads and drainage systems etc., within the ongoing project of construction of the four-lane NH-37.

This was decided in a joint meeting held on Wednesday between the DC of Nagaon, Jadav Saikia, the SDO, Kaliabor, representatives of the NHIDCL, Gammon India Simplex Infrastructure Ltd and the public of Kaliabor held at the conference hall of the SDOs office.

After detailed discussions, the meeting unanimously decided that the district administration will submit the proposal for the said additional constructions from the Kaliabor Judicial Court to Circuit House for the benefit of the public. The meeting felt that if the above mentioned additions are not carried out, the people will not benefit but rather will have to suffer serious consequences in the future. The meeting appealed to the higher authorities to do the needful within a short time. For the time being, the Gammon company was urged to stop the construction works from Kaliabor Tiniali to the Circuit House till the proposal gets sanction.

Anjan Buragohain, Manager Project, NHIDCL assured the meeting to forward and submit the proposal to the higher authority as soon as possible for consideration. Earlier, former minister Gunin Hazarika, briefed the public about the problem. The DC also assured that if extra land is required for the purpose, the authority will do the needful to acquire the land as and when necessary.
