BAIHATA CHARIALI, March 4 - The public of Nanara, Radhakuchi, Sajei, Barhata, Dagaon, Baregaon and adjoining villages have demanded the State PWD department to construct the Nanara-Barhata road connecting Chariali Ramgaon Nagrijuli PWD road to Kolazol Gurmow PWD road for the interest of the people of the entire area.
The public of the area said that as the PWD has already started construction of a concrete bridge over the Kolazol river removing the earlier wooden bridge on the road, construction of the road with widening of the edges will make the road an alternative way to National Highway 31 and 52 and it will reduce the distance to the city also.
Meanwhile, the local AASU units have also demanded the authorities concerned to construct the road for the convenience of the students of the area to reach the Pub Kamrup College and other institutions located in Baihata Chariali . The student body also said that due to non-construction of the road, the students of the area have been travelling four kilometres of distance more to reach Baihata Chariali-based educational institutions as they have to travel via National Highway 31.
The construction of the road will also reduce the traffic jams and probable road accidents on the National Highway. Now the public of the area have pressurized the Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia and Kamalpur constituency MLA Satyabrat Kalita to take a joint initiative to construct the road before the onset of the monsoon.
