GUWAHATI, Oct 9 - Assam registered a consolation victory in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In their penultimate match of the Group C at Chennai today, Assam posted an eight-wicket victory against Tripura.
In reply to Tripura�s 209 all out in 49.1 overs, Assam smashed 211 losing two wickets in 44.1 overs. Despite Bishal B Ghosh�s 134-ball 100, Tripura managed to score just over 200.
Arup Das (3/25), Abu Nechim Ahmed (3/36) and Mrinmoy Dutta (2/37) were the leading wicket takers for Assam.
For Assam, Rishav Das and Riyan Parag scored half centuries and took their team to the target in 44.1 overs.
Assam will play against Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
