GUWAHATI, June 21 - A group of senior academicians and women activists of the State today met Director General of Assam Police Kuladhar Saikia, expressing serious concern over the ongoing police investigations related to recent cases of alleged molestation and women safety in Dibrugarh University, Gauhati University and the case related to sexual harassment of a woman on a city bus here.

The group under the banner of Forum Against Sexual Harassment in Educational Institutions (FASHEI) urged the Assam Police chief to expedite the investigation and ensure that such offenders do not go scot-free.

Referring to the Dibrugarh case, the forum through a memorandum stated that apparently, the police have not been proactive in their investigation into the case while some forces are putting indirect pressure on the victim to withdraw the case.
