Conrad new NPP chief

By Correspondent

TURA, March 18 - Following in the footsteps of his illustrious father, Purno A Sangma, Conrad K Sangma was on Wednesday elected by members of his party as the national president, ending speculation on the future of the party.

While there has been no official release from the NPP regarding the election, party sources confirmed the elevation of Conrad to the national leader of the NPP.

The newly elected party president will face an acid test with the NPP fielding candidates for the upcoming elections to the Assam Assembly. He also faces a dicey issue in Garo Hills with his nomination to the GHADC being opposed by the State Government.

The biggest challenge for Conrad though will be to live up to the larger than life image that he will inherit due to the death of his father.
