Conrad inspects work progress of Mawlai Bypass

SHILLONG, April 22 - Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma along with Deputy CM, Prestone Tynsong reviewed the work progress of the crucial Mawlai Bypass and Mawlai-Umroi VIP road on Saturday.

�Development of Mawlai Bypass is crucial as this road would ease traffic congestion in Shillong. Work is going on in full swing as we are working on a tight deadline,� Sangma said after inspecting the works.

He also inspected the VIP road stretch from Mawlai to Umroi and discussed at length with officials to improve the road connectivity. Sangma also inspected the Airport at Umroi in the presence of officials from Transport Department and Airport Authority of India.

Sangma said that he would visit Delhi next week to discuss on improving air connectivity in Meghalaya swiftly in view of the National Games scheduled in 2022.

Expressing concern over the poor air connectivity in the State, Sangma said that discussions were held with officials regarding expansion of the runways of the Shillong Airport.
