NEW DELHI, Jan 18 - Bangladesh today said that improvement of connectivity infrastructure with India, particularly with the Northeast region will help in promotion of business activities in the region.
Participating in a discussion at the Northeast Business Summit, acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh Rokebul Haque said that improvement of connectivity infrastructure between the two countries, particularly with the Northeast, will help in promotion of business activities in the region.
Haque pointed out that �Border Haat� has helped in improving the people-to-people contact and improvement of economic activities.
At the valedictory session of business summit, organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Secretary, North Eastern Council Ram Muivah said that the Northeast needs entrepreneurs to transform the region. He felt that in the next five years the Northeast will have the best road infrastructure in the country.
Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Sudhanshu Pandey said that steps are being taken by the government to make Guwahati a hub for civil aviation.
Pandey also announced that the Ministry of Commerce is prepared to give the viability gap funding so that fresh agriculture produce can be directly exported abroad.
