Congress sweeps Karimganj LACs

BADARPUR, May 14 � The newly-elected MLA of Badarpur, Jamal Uddin Ahmed, who defeated his nearest rival AIUDF candidate Helal Uddin by a huge number of votes, has thanked all sections of people in Badarpur for electing him as MLA for the second time.

In the 2011 Assembly election, the Congress created a history of sorts in entire Karimganj district and swept all the five constituencies, defeating the BJP and the AIUDF. Top Congress leaders of the border district of Karimganj told this correspondent that they were elated at the massive victory of the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress party in the district.

On the other hand, district BJP sources alleged that through the help of the district administration, the Congress Government tampered with the EVMs. The BJP said that the party would give stern punishment to those indulging in anti-BJP activities. The five new Congress MLAs of Ratabari, Patharkandi, North-Karimganj, South-Karimganj and Badarpur namely, Kripanath Malah, Manilal Gowala, Kamalakhhya Dey Purkayastha, Siddek Ahmed and Jamal Uddin Ahmed respectively told this correspondent that they would give much attention to the greater development of the entire Karimganj district.
