Congress slams Modi in National Herald case

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, Dec 21 - On Saturday, when Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the partys vice-president Rahul Gandhi had to present themselves before a Delhi court in the National Herald case, Congress party members across the State staged protests against the BJP for levelling false and baseless charges.

As per the directions of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, such protests were held in all the districts. In the District Congress office here, Sports Minister Ajit Singh, DCC president and former MP Karnendu Bhattacharjee, former Minister Misbahul Islam Laskar, general secretaries Partha Ranjan Chakraborty, Rajesh Deb and members of the Seva Dal and Mahila Congress shouted slogans condemning the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government for levelling allegations against the Gandhis which lacked substance.

The Congress protesters also slammed BJP leader Subramaniam Swamy, on whose complaint the court had summoned them saying that both Sonia and Rahul will come out clean in the case, which is steered by the BJP to divert the attention of the nation from its utter failure to fulfil the towering promises made before the 2014 elections.

It may be mentioned that the court later granted bail to the Gandhis on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 50,000 with one surety from each.
