Congress ready to woo voters with wish list

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, Feb 2 Reacting strongly against the BJPs declaration to issue a charge-sheet on February 3 on the performance of the Congress party in running the Silchar Municipal Board in the last five years, the Silchar district Congress on Sunday came out with its wish list to woo the voters ahead of the civic polls.

Local MP Sushmita Dev, who made a phenomenal impact with her strategies to win the hearts and minds of the electorate back in 2009, maintained that the Congress will give a fitting reply to the charge-sheet with its vision statement for the people of this town. She also said that the candidates of the Congress party will beg for votes on the performance factor which in her words will do the talking.

We are least bothered about the so-called charge-sheet. Instead, we are focused on how to give the people more facilities once they vote our party candidates to power, the parliamentarian said.

Dev said that once the Congress forms the board, more money will be pumped in and there will be a flurry of projects to develop the town. The party will resume from where it has stopped, she asserted. On the much discussed storm water drainage project to solve the waterlogging problem, she said that money is not an issue, but public cooperation is a must to complete the task.

Sports Minister Ajit Singh said that Silchar has seen significant development in the last five years. From the broken roads for which people took to streets some years ago, there are concrete blocks now in almost all areas of the town and there is a lot of other development which the people have seen. He said that alongside criticisms, the achievements must also be considered.
