BARCHALA (DHEKIAJULI), April 2 - Addressing an election rally at Barchala near Dhekiajuli town, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today criticised the Congress party, saying that the party has long been exploiting the people of the country.

Addressing a poll meeting at the South Barchala High School playground under Barchala LAC in Sonitpur district, Sonowal said, After Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country, Assam has been moving towards a right direction.

The Chief Minister said the Congress party should be wiped out for the betterment of the country.

In the BJP regime, people are living in peace, because we never allow communal riot. But the situation was opposite during the Congress period, he said.

Sonowal also maintained that BJP always wants to make India a progressive country. In the hands of Narendra Modi, the nation is quite safe. It is our duty to make our nation great with our hard work. Even after 55 years of the Congress rule, people of the region have not witnessed any development, he said.

The Chief Minister also addressed another election rally organised in Jamuguri area under Sotea LAC in the Tezpur parliamentary constituency.
