AGARTALA, April 28 - In the two Lok Sabha seats in Tripura, the security deposits of opposition Congress and CPI (M) candidates would be forfeited, said Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
Deb, who was in West Bengal and Delhi, returned along with his wife Niti Deb to state capital today.
While speaking to media at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport here, Deb said there was no question of opposition candidates winning in the East and West parliamentary constituencies where the opposition parties failed to deploy polling agents.
About the CPI (M), he said 12 per cent of the CPM voters voted for the BJP in the last Assembly polls. This number would increase further in this Lok Sabha polls.
Regarding the Congress, the Chief Minister said the Congress has no existence in Tripura.
While refuting the allegations of large scale poll-related violence in Tripura, Deb said it is evidence of the bankruptcy of both the opposition parties.
