Congress denies pact with AIUDF

By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, March 29 - Former State Minister and spokesperson of the Congress Rockybul Hussain today denied any pact with AIUDF, stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as usual brings up the allegation every election time and this was nothing new.

Our partys stand is clear that there is no deal between the Congress and the AIUDF. In fact the BJP themselves have aligned with AIUDF. In Nagaon Zilla Parishad, 11 candidates of the BJP were administered oath. Where did they get 14 votes? They have said that three votes were from the AIUDF. Today if they claim they have no secret pact with AIUDF, let them resign from Zilla Parishad and prove it. They have done the same thing in Darrang. Its a fact and the truth. We have rejected them and will continue to oppose them, said the Congress leader during an election rally at Mohanbari, near here.

The rally was organised by the Lahoal Block Congress at Public Pandal at Mohanbari. Congress leaders Prithivi Majhi, Atuwa Munda, Bhupen Borah and Rupjyoti Kurmi also addressed the gathering at the meeting.

Slamming BJP president Amit Shah, Congress leader Rockybul Hussain said that the BJP had said in 2014 that once it came to power, the Bangladeshis will have to leave the country with all their belongings. Today the BJP wants to accommodate all the illegal Bangladeshis in the State by bringing the Citizenship Amendment Bill and making it an Act. Whereas our leader Rahul Gandhi has said that once Congress comes to power the Citizenship Amendment Bill will be scrapped. The general people have realised how they have been betrayed and deceived by the BJP and therefore are turning towards us. People have lost faith in the BJP. People were drawn towards BJP only because of their big promises like getting Rs 15 lakh, jobs, cut in prices of commodities etc., he said.

He added that Rahul Gandhi has kept his word and as promised in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, he wiaved off the loans of the farmers. People are also happy about his promise to give away Rs 72,000 annually to the poor households.
