Silchar, Feb 17: The Congress party began its Assam Bachao campaign to reach out to the people to amass views for its manifesto in the ensuing Assembly elections.

The campaign saw Congress cadres riding cycles from the Khudiram Bose point carrying the message of saving Assam along with senior leaders of the party alleging the BJP led Government of dragging the state's pace of development.

Along with AICC and APCC leaders, All India Mahila Congress chief and former Silchar MP Sushmita Dev, former Minister Ajit Singh and other leaders took part in the rally.

"The BJP led Government has deprived the people of the state and Barak Valley in particular for which people must decide wisely in the ensuing election and save Assam," Dev said in the campaign.

After meeting various stakeholders in the town, the rally moved to Dholai constituency.
