Congress bags all 3 seats in Morigaon

JAGIROAD, May 15 � The Indian National Congress (INC) candidates have won all the three Assembly seats in Morigaon district, 79 Jagiroad (SC) LAC, 80 Morigaon LAC and 81 Lahorighat LAC. In Jagiroad (SC) LAC, sitting MLA Bibekananda Doloi (INC) who was also the Parliamentary Secretary, PWD, Government of Assam, defeated his nearest rival Bubul Das of AGP by a margin of 34,446 votes. Doloi bagged 67,655 votes, while Das polled 33,209 votes. BJP candidate, Sailesh Das secured 26,376 votes. AIUDF candidate Bhaba Kanta Bharali secured 11,636 votes, while Trinomool Congress candidate Jugal Kishor Saikia got the fifth position with only 1901 votes.

In 80 Morigaon LAC, sitting MLA Jon Jonali Baruah (INC) defeated AGP candidate Bireswar Medhi by 27,470 votes. Baruah secured 54,889 votes, while Medhi got 27,419 votes. CPI candidate Munin Mahanta secured 18,841 votes while Prahlad Bhuyan, a BJP candidate, got 7,450 votes. Anupam Baruah of AIUDF could secure 2,389 votes while the Independent candidate Mileswar Pator secured only 2210. Abuuddin Ahmed of Trinomool Congress secured the last position with only 977 votes.

In Laharighat Food and Civil Suplies Minister Dr Nazrul Islam defeated his nearest rival Faruk Rahman Khan of AIUDF by a margin of 12,623 votes. Islam bagged 53,550 votes while Khan secured 40,927 votes.

Romio Deka, BJP candidate secured 6,429 votes, while Independent candidate Wahida Begum polled 4,518 votes. AGP candidate Kamrul Hussain Chaudhury was placed in the fifth spot with only 2,639 votes.
