MANGALDAI, Oct 21 � Darrang police last night arrested three more accused including a local leader of the ruling Congress in connection with the gruesome murder of prominent High Court lawyer and well-known businessman Binay Kr Ghosh here on August 29 last.
Vivek Raj Singh, Superintendent of Police told the media here today that Habibur Rahman (50) who was the �mastermind� of the whole incident of robbery and murder, was arrested from his residence at village Bologora (Nageswar) under Dhula Police Station on the basis of the statement of Assah Babu (28), one of the prime accused and a notorious dacoit.
The police have so far arrested eight persons in connection with the murder and are on the lookout for another nine or more persons identified to have been involved in the case.
Meanwhile, the arrested Habibur Rahman identified himself before the media as the spokesperson of the Darrang District Congress. However, sources in the Darrang District Congress while talking to this correspondent over telephone, denied Habibur�s claim.
