DIPHU, May 9 � Mass supporters, workers and leaders of the Congress party formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today at Bakaliaghat in Karbi Anglong district. On the occasion, a mass joining cum party rally was organised here at Bakaliaghat HS School playground.
It may be mentioned here that altogether 2500 Congress supporters and workers from Langpher MAC constituency and 111 numbers of supporters of HSDC joined BJP under the leadership of Sum Ronghang former CEM, KAAC.
Siddhartha Bhattacharya, State BJP president addressed the rally as chief guest. The State BJP president expressed proud and welcomed the mass Congress renegade workers for joining the BJP. He said the BJP is working equally with all for equal development. Accordingly the BJP has been getting mass supports from all section of people in every part of the country, the State BJP president said.
During the rally, Joyram Engleng, president of State Scheduled Tribe (ST) Morcha, Sum Ronghang, Ramkrishna Ghosh, secretary, State BJP and Arun Terang, president, BJP, Karbi Anglong District Committee (KADC) also delivered speech.
On the other hand, a long bike rally was also organised today by the Congress at Bakaliaghat along the NH-36. The bike rally was headed by Bidya Sing Engleng, MLA, Diphu constituency.
