By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 20 - Opposition Congress party will stage protests across the State on November 29-30 against what it termed wrong economic policies of the BJP government.

State Congress secretary and spokesperson Prafulla Kumar Das today said that all the block committees of the party will hold dharna programmes in front of the offices of the respective Circle Officers and Block Development Officers on November 29.

This will be followed by staging of dharna in front of all the offices of municipalities and town committees across Assam on November 30 by members of Town Block Congress Committees and Town Mandal Congress Committees.

The agitation will be carried out as part of the directive issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Das said.

Our aim is to expose before the people the facts regarding the wrong economic policies of the Narendra Modi-led government, which led to economic slowdown, retrenchment of employees, decline in household income, growth in unemployment, and dip in consumption, among other things. The government is also conspiring to sell off profit-making State sector enterprises, he said.

All party office-bearers at the booth, block and district levels have been directed to prepare for the agitation and mobilise the party workers as well as the common masses, said Das.
