Cong slams govt, APSC over answer key goof-up

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 3 - The Congress castigated the State government and the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) on Friday over the goof-up in the Combined Competitive Examination (Prelims), 2018.

A day after the APSC admitted to mistakes in the answer keys of 21 subjects in the CCE (Prelims), the opposition party said that the promises made by the Sarbananda Sonowal government have all turned out to be false.

Where did the Sonowal government and the APSC get the right to play with the lives of thousands of educated unemployed youths of Assam? Sonowal had formed the State government with a promise to provide employment to 26 lakh unemployed youths of Assam. Instead, what has taken place in reality in various exams and interviews being conducted for filing up vacant posts is nothing short of farce, said Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) secretary Rhituparna Konwar.

Citing examples of alleged anomalies in recent recruitment to departments like Panchayat and Rural Development, Information and Public Relations, Power and now the APSC exams, Konwar alleged that all this points towards lack of a sense of responsibility on the part of the government towards the citizens of the State.

The Congress demanded re-evaluation of the answer sheets of 3,361 candidates who had made it to the CCE (Mains) after being evaluated on the basis of wrong answer keys (inaccurate answers) and added that the Mains exam should not be held before that.

Konwar said that those responsible for the goof-up in the Prelims should be held accountable.
