By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 29 - With the prices of essential commodities, specially onions, going up, the Opposition Congress today protested at the entrance of State Legislative Assembly wearing onion garlands.

The Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, MLAs KD Purkayastha, Rupjyoti Kurmi, Rekibuddin Ahmed and others shouted slogans against the Centres failure to control the prices, on the second day of the Assemblys winter session.

Later, AIUDF MLA Abdur Rahim Ajmal and Congress MLA Roselina Tirkey also raised the matter inside the House.

Though the government is saying that onions would be provided at the rate of Rs 60-65, the common people are still buying the commodity at a rate of Rs 85-90, Tirkey said.
