Cong heavyweights join BJP in Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, March 26 � Political equations in Karbi Anglong have been changing frequently and has taken an interesting turn with the entry of Congress heavyweight Joyram Engleng, former KAAC CEM into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday. Notwithstanding the gains and losses of major parties like the BJP and the Congress, all other political parties are also leaving no stone unturned to woo the common voters in the district.

In fact, a number of top Congress leaders, including former State minister and executive members and members of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), joined the BJP during the formal inauguration of the saffron party�s Karbi Anglong district committee office at Rongnihang here on Tuesday. It can be described as a landmark and substantial development for the BJP in Karbi Anglong.

Rupon Sing Ronghang, former Education Minister, Bajong Tisso, former chairman and EM, KAAC, Bhupen Hasnu, former EM, Sing Teron, former EM, Singnoth Kro, former EM, Maina Rongpipi, former VDC chairman and Amreng MAC left the Congress camp to join the BJP.

The Congress deserters were warmly welcomed by Arun Terang, president, BJP, Karbi Anglong district unit, Padma Maibongsa, vice president, Ajit Dey, general secretary along with many other party leaders and workers.
