Cong has pact with AIUDF: BJP

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 7 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday came up with a 44 point charge sheet against the Congress accusing the party of having an alliance with the AIUDF, the same party which once Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had made a public mockery of.

The BJP also described the Congress and the AIUDF as communal and warned that both posed threat to the identity of Assam.

Addressing media persons here, Vijay Goel, national general secretary of the BJP said that the tacit understanding between the Congress and AIUDF has been exposed and appealed to the people of Assam to reject both the Congress and the AIUDF in the interest of the culture, language, heritage and security of the State.

The same Tarun Gogoi who once asked who is Badaruddin is now begging for support from the AIUDF. This sudden change of track after the first phase of polling is an admission of defeat by the Congress, said Goel further claiming that he has learnt from reliable sources that there was a meeting between Badaruddin, Salman Khurshid and Saifuddin Soz in Delhi where the AIUDF was promised the post of deputy chief minister and the home ministry.

Goel said that the AIUDF came into existence for protection and promotion of Bangladeshis who were encroaching on Sattra land, reserve forests and char areas of the State.

It needs to be mentioned here that one of points in the BJPs charge sheet is related to encroachment by illegal migrants. It says that 1,72,290 hectare forest land has been occupied by illegal migrants in Orang, Manas, Dibru-saikhowa, Kaziranga etc. The points in the charge sheet include the NC Hills scam, multi crore scam in Assam Police battalion, anomalies in Public Distribution System, delay in NRC upgrade and implementation of the Assam Accord.

The Congress is intent on selling out Assam to Bangladeshis for the sake of power, accused Goel predicting that the Assembly elections in Assam will ensure that AIUDF is washed out and Badaruddin will not be a factor in the future politics of Assam.

Asserting that the BJP was committed to free Assam of illegal migrants and corruption, Goel said that even the BPF has realized the threat posed by Bangladeshis and that the Bodo people will vote against the illegal occupation of their land by the Bangladeshis.
