GUWAHATI, March 25 - With reports emerging that Rahul Gandhi may also contest from Wayanad in Kerala, apart from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, the ruling BJP today said that this move of the Congress president amounts to lack of confidence.
�This clearly shows that Rahul Gandhi has lost confidence. He is not sure of winning from Amethi and so, he is looking for an alternative option. Amethi is described as a pocket borough of the Gandhi family since decades. And yet, now the situation has come to such a level that Rahul Gandhi�s position in the constituency is shaky,� said Assam State BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami.
�Congress party has lost its confidence. So it (Congress) is now casting aspersions on all, including the RBI, the CAG and the Supreme Court. Look at Assam itself. Do you notice any activity on part of the Congress party here for the coming Lok Sabha polls? Has anybody seen any election rally by Congress in Assam?�
Asked about Congress leaders� claim that their list of candidates in Assam was declared before that of the BJP, Goswami said, �If they (Congress) are getting some sense of satisfaction from that, then what can we say?�
The State BJP�s reaction came after reports emerged in a section of the media regarding the likelihood of Rahul Gandhi contesting from Wayanad constituency, besides his traditional seat of Amethi.
