NEW DELHI, July 31 - The Assam Congress today blasted the BJP, asserting that the saffron party is misleading everyone, as it is the Congress which has completed 80 per cent of the NRC work.

Addressing a press conference, PCC president Ripun Bora, Gaurav Gogoi and Satinus Kujur sought to distance the Congress from the Trinamool Congress, asserting that all that the Congress is demanding is a statement from the Home Minister, Rajnath Singh.

About BJP president, Amit Shahs assertion, Bora alleged that he has been misleading the public. The Congress has done 80 per cent of the NRC work, while BJP completed only 20 per cent of the exercise. t is unfortunate that BJP is trying to take the credit, Bora said.

The Congress demands that names of all genuine citizens should be included in the NRC.

Meanwhile, Gaurav Gogoi raising a Zero Hour motion in the Lok Sabha today said that foundation for NRC was laid down by the then Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh and the Government of Assam was under the Congress rule.

The Government of Assam has clearly no clue regarding the total number of foreigners currently in Assam. Moreover, in the Home Ministers statement, the Central Government is still not in position to differentiate between the people of Assam and the foreigners.
