ITANAGAR, Oct 19 - Days after the Pema Khandu-led BJP government appointed three advisers to the Chief Minister, 22 advisers to ministers and several chairmen and vice-chairmen of various Govt organisations, the Opposition Congress on Sunday hit out at the ruling dispensation for making such a large number of political appointments at the cost of the state exchequer, that too at a time when the states financial health is critical and chronic in nature, lying in the ICU of the power centre.
It requires mention here that the Pema Khandu Government had recently appointed three senior BJP leaders as advisers to the Chief Minister, 22 MLAs as advisers to Cabinet Ministers and several other party leaders as chairmen and vice chairmen of various boards and other PSUs.
Citing that there was no job creation in the State, and with unemployment at an all-time high, the Congress claimed the salary of SSA teachers, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers and many contractual and contingency employees, besides honorarium of GBs, etc have not been released since long and no compensation given to all those who have lost their business, livelihood and jobs due to unplanned nationwide lockdown for COVID-19. Cries of the contractors for release of their pending bills has remained conveniently unheard.
Besides the pathetic condition of roads in the twin capital cities and in other parts of the state, lack of regular power supply and lack of pure drinking water - whether in urban or in rural areas - are of great concern.
Congress spokesman Chera Taya alleged that instead of addressing burning issues of the masses, the Government is busy in pleasing a select few as a token of appeasement to Nagpur (headquarters of RSS) by appointing so many advisers.
