Cong ensured peace, progress: Kharsing

DIPHU, Jan 16 - The ruling Congress party has intensified its election campaign in Karbi Anglong by from the Howraghat Legislative Assembly Constituency, considered to be its stronghold by organizing a rally.

A mammoth Congress rally was organized on Tuesday under the aegis of Howraghat Mandal Congress Committee. The State HAD Minister, Kharsing Engti, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang and EMs Sarat Brahma, Mongal Sing Timung, Bidyasing Rongpi, local MAC and Social Welfare EM, KAAC, Premala Beypi addressed the rally.

Kharsing Engti highlighted the different schemes designed by the Government and claimed of their successful implementation.

Mentioning the past regime of the then ASDC-CPI (ML), Engti narrated how people had to suffer difficulties during the violence and unrest that time. Besides, development works were also completely derailed in the district due to the misrule of the ASCD-CPI (ML).

However, peace and progress were ensured in the district after the Congress came to power, Engti said. Engti also lambasted the Central Government for curtailing funds of different schemes. He hailed the Chief Minister for his declaration of Howraghat as a subdivision.

In his speech, Tuliram Ronghang, CEM, KAAC also attacked the BJP and its leaders of Karbi Anglong district, whom he alleged of misleading the people. Ronghang also slammed the former CEM, KAAC and present BJP leader Joyram Engleng.

Sarat Brahma, the lone EM from the Boro community admitted of getting importance and maximum facilities for the Bodo community in the regime of Congress. He assured to give support to the Congress in the ensuing assembly election and in the future also.
