GUWAHATI, June 11 - The State Congress has questioned as to why no action has been taken against the Karbi Anglong Deputy Commissioner who made �irresponsible� comments after the lynching of two youths from Guwahati in a village there. Congress spokesperson Apurba Bhattacharyya also came down heavily on KAAC chief Tuliram Rongham for going on a foreign tour when there was unrest in his district.
�At a time when he should have been expressing solidarity with the families of the victims, he chose to go on a foreign tour on Saturday,� the Congress leader said.
Alleging that the government has failed to maintain law and order in the State, Bhattacharyya also questioned the role of the police who, instead of saving two innocent lives, were busy making a video of the incident.
The Congress leader also asked the government to make strong case diaries so that the culprits get stringent punishment.
Ellora Vigyan Mancha: Condemning the killing of two youths Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das in Karbi Anglong, Ellora Vigyan Mancha has demanded strong punishment to the culprits involved.
Questioning the response of the government, the Mancha also described as �objectionable� the comments of the Deputy Commissioner after the incident. It also rued that though a Bill on with-hunting was passed in the Assembly, due to reasons unknown it has not yet become a law.
