Cong decries unruly acts of BJP revellers

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 1 - The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today condemned the alleged unruly behaviour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists and supporters in the State. It alleged that some of the BJP activists even resorted to firing shots from their firearms, in the name of celebrating the victory of their party in the Lok Sabha election.

The APCC alleged that last night some BJP activists and supporters resorted to such frenzied acts at Naharkatia in Dibrugarh district, in the name of celebrating the electoral victory of their party and the inclusion of Rameswar Teli in Prime Minister Narendra Modis council of ministers. Following this, the common people of the town have become horrified.

Such a situation is unprecedented in Assam. Several leaders from the State were made ministers in the Central government earlier, but no such incident took place in the name of celebrating such developments, said the party.

It said a section of the people lodged an FIR with the Naharkatia police in this connection. The party urged the police authorities to view the matter seriously.
