Cong creating hurdles in NRC update: AGP

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 9 - The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today expressed concern over the confusion created in regard to the process of NRC update and accused the Tarun Gogoi government of trying to take Assam into a state of anarchy.

Addressing mediapersons here, AGP president Atul Bora slammed the ruling Congress in the State for trying to create hurdles in the NRC update and reiterated that a correct NRC should be prepared so that the vexed foreigners issue can be resolved.

But unfortunately, both the Congress and the BJP are doing politics in the name of NRC update. The BJP wants to divide the foreigners on the line of religion and the Congress wants the names of all the illegal Bangladeshis to be included in the NRC, alleged Bora, adding that it is not only the Congress who has betrayed the trust of the people, but the BJP has also failed to keep its promise to the people of Assam.

Bora also criticised the Congress and the BJP for not bothering about the future of the indigenous people of Assam. Now both the Congress and the BJP are into vote bank politics in the name of NRC and it is time people realised the true character of these parties, said Bora.

Bora called upon all the organisations and civil society groups to help in the NRC update and secure the future of the State.
