GUWAHATI, Aug 25 The ruling Congress on Monday exuded confidence of winning at least 12 of the 14 Lok Sabha seats from Assam during next years general elections and said the party is united under one banner.
Our target is a minimum of 12 Lok Sabha seats. Our partys strength in Assam is intact and we are confident of gaining at least that number of seats here, Minister for Power, Industry and Commerce, Pradyut Bordoloi told reporters here on Monday.
Asked about All India United Democratic Front leader Badruddin Ajmals reported claim that his party will win at least 10 Lok Sabha seats, Pradyut termed it as Mungerilals dream.
Bordoloi, who is also a State Government spokesperson, also ruled out any affect on the Congress polls prospects on account of rising dissidence in the ruling party. Within a family, members at times tend to argue and quarrel. Do not read much into it, he said
However, when it comes to the question of the party, we are all united and we will jump into the Lok Sabha fray unitedly, he said. Bordoloi also said that the Congress will be able to wrest the Lok Sabha seats from Assam which were won by the BJP in the 2009 polls.
