By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI,Jan 28 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said that both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) are trying to divide the people of the State on communal lines and the Congress is committed to defeat both of them in the ensuing polls.

Gogoi said that he is for an understanding with the various political and non-political groups, including the students group, ahead of the polls so that the communal forces are uprooted from the State.

Both the BJP and the AIUDF are identical in nature and should not be allowed to make further inroads in the State, the Chief Minister told media-persons at a press conference.

Gogoi said that the recent comment made by AIUDF chief Badaruddin Ajmal on uniting religious minority, has exposed his communal tactics, which we condemned.

He confirmed that the Congress will field with its full strength against the BJP and AIUDF and there does not arise any question of fielding weak candidates against AIUDF candidates in the forthcoming polls.
